4 / 5 Stars | Review by Ink
A misfit girl and a popular guy share a secret. But will this secret lead them to mutual destruction or freedom?
Told from the dual perspectives of Mattie and Willem, Callahan does a phenomenal job of tying the two distinct characters together into a cohesive, interwoven narrative, effectively nesting two stories within one. Although it suffers from somewhat of a slow start, the story features a well-thought out plot and satisfying ending. The Art of Escaping is a story of goodness and hope--a perfect fit for today’s YA audience.
Engaging and resonant, this story will reach the hearts of everyone who has ever been--or felt--an outcast. Escapology is really just a metaphor for teenage angst. Still, The Art of Escaping features an refreshingly heart-warming ending.
